    Positive/Negative Reinforcement Reinforcement can be positive or negative that can either deliver or reduce something to achieve a certain result. Praises and scolding are forms of reinforcers. In operant conditioning, it is desired for a specific response to occur. Positive reinforcement involves adding something in order to receive a specific response. An example of this can be giving your child allowance after they have cleaned their room. If you get a good grade on a test and the teacher says “great work!” you are more inclined to want to work harder to receive that same response next time. Accuracy, duration, frequency, and persistence are all important measures when monitoring a response. Positive reinforcement should be manipulated and given on a fixed schedule. This way, in the early stages of learning particularly, a positive result can be ensured close to every time. Negative reinforcement comes from wanting to avoid an adverse stimulus.   Strange Phobias Phobias are debilitating fears of objects, situations, people, places, or animals. Rapid onset of fear occurs when a person is triggered by their phobia. While there is a plethora of interesting phobias its likely no one has ever heard of, one of the most common in the world is Arachnophobia which is the fear of spiders. Phobias can become so severe that the person experiencing it spends nearly their entire life trying to avoid whatever it is they are afraid of. Have phobias is a form of an anxiety disorder that causes them to feel anxious or panic. Moreover, some other symptoms can include trembling, an upset stomach, shortness of breath, increased heart rate, sweating, and dizziness.   There are simple phobias and complex phobias. Simple phobias occur around a certain animal, subject, or activity. They often develop as a child and become less severe with age. Coping Mechanisms for OCD Obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental health disorder that affects any age, any gender, and any sex. More specifically, OCD is when a person has uncontrollable and reoccurring thoughts or obsessions that cause compulsions which cause them to repeat the same thing over and over. I was unaware that there are actually 4 different types of OCD. There is cleaning/contamination OCD where if something is uncleanly or contaminated, they become uneasy, causing them to consistently keep surfaces clean. Then there is order/symmetry OCD where the person has very intense urge to arrange and rearrange things until they feel they are adequate. Next, there is harm OCD where you live in a constant feel of harming yourself or others. Lastly, there is hoarding OCD where a home is virtually unrecognizable due to large amounts of clutter.   OCD affects people in a myriad of ways.
